A CONVERSATION WITH MARC ARONSON

Morning Session

Marc Aronson is an author, editor, publisher, speaker, and historian who believes that young people, especially pre-teens and teenagers, are smart, passionate, and capable of engaging with interesting ideas in interesting ways.  Join us as he talks about the books he’s written, discusses how he chooses who or what to write about, and answers your questions.  For more information about Aronson and his works, visit www.marcaronson.com.

*Marc will be available to sign books for about 20 minutes during the day.  Please bring your Marc Aronson-authored books with you.  Books will not be sold by or at ALS. His website provides links to sellers.

BOYS AND READING

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? WHAT'S THE SOLUTION?

Afternoon Session

How can we get boys to read? The answer is obvious: find out what interests them. But we do the opposite. We treat reading as novel reading, and tell boys who like facts, battles, sports magazines, websites, or fantasy that they are not readers. In this presentation, Aronson shows how to build bridges to reading by seeing boys for who they are.

Wednesday, June 18
